Write for us
We welcome thoughtful proposals about rural theatre: the spaces, performances, practices and traditions through which communities make and share stage work. A good pitch has a clear subject and gives readers a reason to care.
What we welcome
Pitch reported explainers, comparisons, historical background, thoughtful opinion or practical pieces for general readers. Subjects might include a form of community performance, the design of a temporary stage, or how a particular kind of play finds its audience. Keep the focus on theatre rather than using a rural setting as a decorative backdrop.
A useful pitch
Tell us the proposed angle, the central idea and what a reader will understand by the end. Mention the material you expect to draw on and any relevant perspective or interests that could shape the piece. Do not send a finished article unless we have agreed to see one.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. We cannot promise a response to every pitch, and sending a proposal does not mean it has been accepted. Please do not include private or sensitive information.
A stage belongs to its place
A play takes its shape from more than the script: the room, the company and the habits of an audience all leave their mark.
